Ayhan Alcansak
The name seems faintly familiar. Was Alcansak the Turkish guy from Sweden featured in a hand against Danny Negreanu during the early part of the 2004 WSOP ME?

Re: Raymer Crippled
I met Andrew Black at a satellite a few weeks back. He's a very amusing, very pleasant man. He made several jokes at the expense of our good friend pokergripes.

Matusow/Sheikhan
[ QUOTE ]
Matusow and Sheikhan just exchanged very loud words at the Featured Table, with Matusow making a poker challenge, saying something like "Let's play for $7 million, and I'll spot you a million, and then I'll take it all." [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Kantor v Raymer
[ QUOTE ]
The latest Matusow video clip on CP is good. He wonders why the hell Ivey was playing large pots against these players. He ripped Kantor pretty hard for calling the flop against Greg. [/ QUOTE ] This is true. Matusow is the best interview in poker. |

Re: Ayhan Alcansak
[ QUOTE ]
The name seems faintly familiar. Was Alcansak the Turkish guy from Sweden featured in a hand against Danny Negreanu during the early part of the 2004 WSOP ME? [/ QUOTE ] Indeed. I believe the hand from which he derives his notoriety among people-like myself-who like "kooky" names occured when he was holding QJ vs Daniel's QT. Flop comes jack high (some action-I think) turn is a queen. Daniel bets-Alcansak raises enough to putty Danny boy all in. Daniel proceed to go into the tank and ask Alcansak where he's from. Alsancak says he's from Sweden and Daniel says something to effect of "he's Swedish therefore there's a chance he's bluffing" Alcansak than continues that he's not originally from Sweden and when asked by Negraneu where he's from orginially he says he's from Turkey. Negraneu comments that it's more likely that's he's bluffing because of this and Alcansak notes that his ethnicities are the "worst combination" of such. I believed he ended up finishing that main event somewhere in the 100s and has finished in the money in a few tournaments since, most notably the Paris event won by Surinder Sunar somewhere in the teens. EDIT: Spelling (big surprise) |

Re: Kantor v Raymer
I just watched the Matusow interview and the 2-part Raymer interview. For as much crap that most of us throw on top of Mike for his antics, his interview seemed like he was geniunely pissed that Greg got drawn out on. His line "What about folding on the flop when you have no pair no draw" was spot on.
And listening to the first part of Greg's interview, he read Kantor perfectly and Kantor read Greg terribly, unfortunately for Greg he got drawn out on. "That's poker." Also its somewhat funny to me to hear Greg answer every question with "I think that's a math question". |
