Default Re: Where to safeguard cash in Vegas?

A couple of things regarding cash safety in Vegas:

1. There are 10,000 different possible combinations in a 4 digit room safe - no chance for a maid to randomly hack.

2. At the Bellagio, my wife, once left an empty purse on the unmade bed - the maid didn't make the bed or even touch the purse and left a note stating why.

3. $3K is chump change in most large casinios even if you flashed it no one would care.

4. Security in casinos is better than most banks - way more cash moving around.

5. If you're still afraid after reading this post and all the others - stay away from LV - you'll never relax and have fun.

If you don't want to carry cash around with you, you can always carry chips. Take your $500 (or whatever you've got at the time) and get a $500 chip from the cashier. Just don't let it fall out a hole in your pocket.

[/ QUOTE ]

Of all the places where I would feel most comfortable walking around with a large wad of cash, it would be Vegas. As long as you're in the casino, it's going to be on video. Hallways and elevators are monitored too.

Funny story about losing chips:
I was watching a NLHE table at the Bellagio waiting to be called when out of the corner of my eye I see something drop and roll under the table. It happened right next to a guy who was kneeling on his chair so I figure he dropped something but he doesn't seem to notice. At the same time a buddy of mine comes walking in from the BJ tables and asks me if I just saw something fall. We both start peering under the table and then my buddy notices a guy searching in his pockets. We tell him that we saw something roll under the table. This guys says that he just dropped a $500 chip and goes looking under the table. He fishes out the chip and it's not a $500, but a pale yellow $1,000. He reaches in his pocket and pulls out a $100 bill and stuffs it into my friend's hand before heading off to the high limit area. And that's how we made $100 at the Bellagio without playing a hand.

The casinos don't charge a greater fee than anyone else to use an ATM. Do you think they want you to think twice about taking money out at a casino ATM due to a higher fee?

[/ QUOTE ]

That would seemingly make sense, but is simply not the case. I'm pretty sure almost all of the casino ATM's have at least a $4 fee. I guess they also figure if you need cash your kind of stuck and are gonna take it out no matter what.

The ATM at the Bellagio has a $2 fee. I wish I didn't know that, but I do.

A guy in a very nice business suit can have just barely enough cash for a good 4-8 buy-in while somebody else in a t-shirt and shorts has a huge baccarat bankroll on him.

Thats very true . While I was in Vegas 2 weeks ago , I saw at the Golden Nugget Gus Hensen & Phil Ivey , both wearing a cheap pair of jeans & an all while T-Shirt & playing macro limit , & I saw a player on a 2-4 limit ' holdem in a tuxedo , with sunglasses , & look like very serious .Maybe he tough he was James Bond . I believe this is the basic reason why most Vegas restaurants don't have much of a dress code. Unlike just about any other city, better dress doesn't equate to more money here.

Speaking of ATMs, a lot of them specify that there is a charge for clients from the United States. But I am Canadian and almost always have to pay the charge.
