I agree. It bothers me when posters launch the first assault and then cannot find the courage to continue with the battle.

So pro poker players are pretty much like most people in more conventional jobs.

Good point. I'd rather be a poker player than a store clerk at Gambler's Book Shop.

I find threads like this really pointless. Someone starts by bashing someone(in this case someone highly respected) and people reply in defense of the party that was insulted, and then it just degenerates into people insulting the original poster for anything from being a women to how highly they are educated. Just delete the whole thing and let's all move on. Treat this sort of mindless drivel with the contempt it deserves.

GOOD:

* You used the topic sentence at the very beginning of your essay! Great! Big improvement from last time!

* You make lots of points to support and stregthen your argument!

* You avoided using words like "think" and "feel"! These words weaken your writing! Good judgement to avoid them!

BAD:

* You should try and develop your arguments more thoroughly! Remember our discussion about breadth versus depth!

* Try and be more careful with fact checking! Stu Ungar was a cocaine addict, not a herion addict!

* Burger King is a proper noun and should be capitalized!

Your final grade is a B- . Nice work!

Thank you for your constructive criticism. A B- is a nice grade for someone who has only been here 2 months. If I took writing lessons from David Sklansky, I might get an "A" with my English teacher.

It is quite amusing that you people got so offended by this and are taking this personally. What's the big deal, I got differences of opinion with someone.

Maybe you people disagree, but I never said I had to be right. It was funny how got a rise out of all you guys.

The majority 2+2 books are very good. The Poker Essays Series and John Feeney's book are the best supplemental poker books.

But wouldn't this forum be boring if we just commended them and sang their praises all the time? In fact, controversial or "bad" posts usually get the most replies.

It's remarkable how you guys get all riled up over this post. This is a great thread, and I got over 35 responses.
