That's the problem with all these posts, they are treated in vacuum. Post the last 100 hands or something and then you can decide who played this hand well and who didn't, the results are really irrelevant.

That's what I'm wondering about. Was he correct to call?

[/ QUOTE ]

If he hardly ever called here without a queen, I believe the push would be pretty bad.
Does this mean KKF played the hand wrong?

Lori

No. The way it played out I wasn't sure who would take the pot down. KKF pushed and represented a bluff and got the call he was looking for. His push took some serious courage, the call is debatable.

What range of hands should he call with here?

At this level, I don't know. It seems that some very good players on this forum think his call might have been OK. My gut reaction was WTF?, but this is a different game than $5/$10.

The point I'm trying to make, is that if his calling range is, say, JJ KK AA and any Queen, then KKF's push would not get enough value in protecting his hand (on a very non-scary board) to be worthwhile other than buying himself some equity when he chooses to push in the same situation with nothing.

If the push is a 'brave' one, it automatically implies that KKF knows that his opponent is capable of calling with exactly this kind of hand. Otherwise the push is almost certainly an error.

Of course, it's not an error, but I'm trying to show why the two parts of this play are connected. If one is an error, so is the other. (At least to some degree)
