This may be part of the extra 8-10% in my VPIP.

Could someone explain to me why many people were behind 3-betting KQs here and many people are behind folding QJs here.

Since I am not three-betting this, I am folding. In the 6-max games I cold-call even less than I do in the full games (which is not very much). Given your table decription I don't think this is one of those rare times for a cold-call.

Well, on an equity basis, there's about 7% difference between the hands. KQs is in a lot better shape here HU, though it certainly does well multiway. With QJs, you need to get a little bit more dead money in to make up for the coldcall. Against a PFR raising ~10%, QJs is sitting at about 35% equity whereas KQs is sitting at 42%. Obviously this isn't an equity basis, but you're going to face more situations where you're only a slight dog with KQs (53/47 situations like JJ), and you're not in as bad of shape against bigger hands like QQ. KQs happens to be my cutoff for 3-betting and I actually fold it a fair amount here, but against an unknown raiser, it's not going to play particularly badly. The reason people tend to advocate 3-betting KQs is initiative-based, as you can fold better hands a fair amount if your opponent is either weak or even moderately decent (he raises ATo, you 3-bet KQs, board comes J74, he check-folds). You aren't hurting your equity overlay by 3-betting nearly so much in a situation where you're rarely a huge dog, so the initiative advantage you get by 3-betting makes the hand a bit more favorable. However, if you 3-bet QJs, you're 3-betting a hand that you know isn't a favorite in this situation, so you are going to have to get a significant amount of initiative advantage behind the 3-bet, and without a read, you won't be getting enough to make up the equity deficit you're facing preflop.

That's my guess, at least. People may/may not think of it in those terms, but that's a fair assessment of why I would 3-bet KQs and fold QJs.

3-bet.

by 3-betting, I now own the entire top half of the deck.

pretty much any 2 cards from 8-A will get me a great hand, or get my opponent to fold heads-up.

and i'm pretty sure you'll know whow to play this hand from the button with 4 opponents for 3 bets, if they come along.

the fact that the blinds are likely to come along can be an arguement FOR 3 betting, not against it.

I hope both Evan and Jason both post their descions and their thoughts behind them at some point.

To me Im either folding or 3-betting. It depends how I feel the table is going and if I think one of the blinds is really coming along. I hate calling (if anyones argument is strong enough Id move my opinon from "hate" to "minor dislike").

Anyway...Im sure u have good timing on when a thread starts to die out so post your answers whenever u feel is good. Im curious.
