Re: Honesty. (l/c)
Yeah, it happens. Two months ago I was playing 200NL and killing it. I cashed out about 1/2 my bankroll to pay off some debt. I then flushed 75% of my roll down the toilet in 3 days. I got down to $500 and moved down to 100NL (I know I should have done that earlier). Then I went down to $150 before dropping down to 50NL (I know I should have done that earlier). My roll dropped down to a low of $100 before I started getting straigth and rebuilding. Anyway, after two months I'm back to 200NL without having to reload. I'm about to cash out a little too.
I guess my point is, don't get too down on yourself. It happens to everyone. Take a day or two off and come back playing your best game. The most important thing IMO is to have learned from this. I for one have learned to realize when I'm not playing my best and to just quit for the day. I've also learned that there's no shame in moving down a limit (or two). But really it emphasized for me how important it is to play your best game all the time or don't play. |

Is 2-4 really that tough? [/ QUOTE ] No, but I bluff calling stations. Calling stations that are so bad that there is no value in betting AK if you don't hit. I actually have a post-it note on my laptop that says "don't bluff calling stations. that means this guy (arrow)" Anyways, I call this my feel-good hand of the day. Or, "my hand just keeps getting better". 2/4 full-ring, Villain has 300, I cover. 45s in BB, 1 limp, Villain raises to 12 in the SB, I call, limper calls. Flop (36): K54 He bets 24, I raise to 72. He calls. Turn (180): 4 He checks, I bet 90. He calls. River (360): 4 He goes all-in for his last 114. Woohoo! AK no good! |

not supposed to be a bad beat, my point is that they don't mattter much, i should be able to overcome them. Its the bad play that pisses me off. Btw, we all need some group therapy sometimes... [/ QUOTE ] What do you think this thread is? Actually, you are 100% right. There oughta be a bad beat day each month, or something, to allow folks to blow off steam. Read Doc Schoonmaker's (sp?) article in the sep. issue. |
