I guess it is up to Party whether they want 70-75% of our rake or zero by us leaving all together.

And in order to do that, they have to find a way to cut the ties to the affiliates that have signed up these players some time ago.

Party can't pay the 25-30% fee to the affiliates and a rakeback on top of that.

Party paid 45 million dollar i affiliate fees in the first six months in 2005. I would think the company want to use those funds to the players rather than the affiliates.

It's not that easy to sever the affiliate relationships - after all, the affiliates spent money to acquire players and signed contracts locking in their "reward." I think now that Party/IGM is public it's harder for them to tell the affiliates to go to hell and breach these contracts (although they probably don't have much legal standing).

More than likely they would have to go behind their back on another skin like Pokernow which is all "house" accounts (no affys). A little unethical and sleazy, but we're talking about online gambling here so what's the big deal.

Party created this whole problem in the first place with the pecentage-based affiliate payouts. Affiliates should be rewarded to attract players, it's only fair. But after the initial acquisition, it's idiotic to keep paying them 25-30% since they play no role in generating additional play (talking about non-RB affy's here obviously).

Are the games tougher on Empire? Or are there enough fish to make it profitable for a fairly strong player (but by no means a pro)?

Woah. This one really came out of left field. Or right field depending on how good you were...

The players are the same, because they are the same people.

So the good players will leave, who represent a small portion of players on their network, and the majority of players will remain. What's their incentive?

[/ QUOTE ]$90,000 a year from me alone. I imagine that would pay for more than a few of their customer service reps salaries.

The #1 reason why Party stopped rakeback was due to complaints from their large non-rakeback affiliate base that they were losing players to rakeback affiliates.

Go have a look at the Party Affiliates forum

Thanks. Not sure how that worked.

Yeah, I read casinoaffiliates - as a player, it's annoying to see them whining, but you have to understand where they're coming from too.

It's all just posturing out of self-interest; the bigger question is what arrangement/changes will serve the greater good of internet poker in the long term.

This is exactly right. The cure to Party's problem is to openly authorize their affiliates to pay rakeback. This would spur play at their site vesus the skins, thus earning them more dollars.

The second thing they need to do is to lure the high volume players who did not go through an affiliate (like myself) back to their site would be to offer them directly a competitive rake rebate to play at Party.
