Re: A support out troops thread on this 9/11 anniversary.
Op says the military is conducting the war to support freedom. So he's brought up himself the conduct of the war. If he truly wanted to keep discussion of the conduct of the war out of the discussion, he could have posted the following:
I think it would be nice if we could say a few words in support of our troops in the Wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. Let's leave discussion of the conduct of the war to the many other threads, and just show our appreciation of the courage and personal sacrifice of our soldiers. But instead he injected politics into the thread. Which, of course, was his obvious intent. |

Support is an interesting idea. I don't support our troops, why should I? If you don't support the war, why should you support the troops?
I understand this isn't the conventional view, can anyone give me a good reason why not? |

That's a play on the conventional one, though, isn't it?

Re: A support out troops thread on this 9/11 anniversary.
I'd prefer they did no harm. If "supporting our troops" means wishing them back, then yes, I "support our troops," but I think it's just a twist to get soldiers or voters to think the citizens support their actions.
I'd rather we suffered casualties and left than stay and kill. |

[/ QUOTE ] Precisely the reason why there are so many hawks out there who claim you're anti-America if you don't 'support the troops', which is mularkey. If your wanting the troops home is the extent of your 'support', you're not too different from many of us. Anybody with half a brain knows deep down there is a difference, despite what they may say in the public forum. |
