Re: Someone tried to convince me that Barry Sanders is not the greates
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] He is the best RB in so many ways. Don't even try to argue this point. [/ QUOTE ] I agree. He was the best: 1 - Goal line back. (no, wait a minute, they took him out at the goal line) 2 - pass-catching back. (no, wait a minute, he only averaged 35 catches/season) 3 - drive-sustaining back. (no, wait a minute, he was consistently held to losses and/or small gains on most of his runs) 4 - blocking back. (no, wait a minute, he sucked at that) [/ QUOTE ] what great running back today fits all of these criteria? [/ QUOTE ]Ricky did.... |

[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Here is the old thread. [/ QUOTE ] How did Bettis and Martin get votes on this poll? [/ QUOTE ]Homer's clearly, but both of them are in the top 10 for all time yardage(I think). |

Homer's clearly, but both of them are in the top 10 for all time yardage(I think). [/ QUOTE ] They are both in the Top 5 actaully. I believe Bettis is 4 and Martin is 5 but it could be switched around. |

Dickerson, Allen, Simpson, [/ QUOTE ] I never actually saw Simpson play, so I can't comment on him, but the other two couldn't hold Dorsett's jock. Dorsett was awesome, and gets very little credit now. |

Re: Someone tried to convince me that Barry Sanders is not the greates
[ QUOTE ]
1. Payton 2. Brown 3. Sanders 4. Campbell 5. Dorsett Gale Sayers very well could have been at or near the top of this list, if not for having his career cut short by injuries. [/ QUOTE ] as a bears fan I completely agree. In fact, he would've easily had over 10K yards by the end of his career if not for all of the knee injuries. Its amazing watching him these days as no runningback really ran like him since, he just seemed to glide and never run at top speed, but he was faster then anyone else he was up against, he just made it look so smooth |

Guys like Martin, Bettis, and Smith don't get enough credit for being durable and providing value for a long time. |
