For NL hold'em tournament players I would rate a lot of players ahead of Scotty Nguyen, he's clearly fallen off the play he had before the year 2000.

WTF are you talking about?

Could your threads be any more usless and full of completely made up facts and pointless opinions?

[/ QUOTE ]

He last won a tournament, when?

[/ QUOTE ]

understand variance and then get back to all of us.

I see Phil Ivey busting out of a lot of WPT final tables. Maybe he's no good either.

I've always felt he's very good, but either gets impatient or a little intoxicated and then starts doing stupid things.

The one time I played with him(Bay 101 Shooting Star) this was definatley the case. His early and mid tourney play was amazing and scarey. He was also relaxed, focused and sober. On day two however,he got cocky and reckless as well as drunk.
Yeah, yeah, way too small of a sample size.

Well, it's more than nothing (and not surprising, considering the lifestyle).

My point is that he hasn't won a tournament in years, if my research is correct. Every top player has captured one in the last three years I can think of. That's my point.

Get ready for a large list of "top players" that haven't won in the last 3 years....just a warning.

I thought I posted this, but apparently not.

Paul Phillips rated Scotty Nguyen among his top ten no limit hold em tournament players despite noting that SN makes some clear mathematical mistakes in his play (or at least I recall him saying that somewhere).

Doesn't mean that SN's true ranking is that high, but I am going to guess that PP, compared to most who post on this board, has a wider amount of data on which to base an opinion and has some degree of competence in making an opinion.

Chip Reese Dude hasn't won since '82! He's probably out selling insurance right now.

Jen Harman Nothing since '02. Bunch of cashes, but does anyone care if you don't get first? I think you just get comped at the buffet.

Lyle Berman Wonder if you can get un-inducted from the Hall Of Fame?

Greg Raymer Like Varkonyi and Moneymaker, he's only had 1 win in recent memory. This guy clearly doesn't know how to bring it home.
