what did you think of St. Anger?

Shite. Maybe they should had shitcanned the cowbell.

Metallica is just lost nowadays. I wouldn't be surprised if their next album was Sinatra covers.

Men at Work. Although I'd guess more than a couple of you have "Business as Usual" in their collections...

Boris,

I will cut you some slack about liking Metallica, if you will cut me some slack for seeing both Journey and Styx in concert back in the day.

The Stones once had to stop a show 12 minutes in to have some screaming teenaged girls removed in straight-jackets. That's rock-n-roll baby!

[/ QUOTE ]

Great, and it's exactly what Metallica has always proclaimed their disgust for. The Stones are currently prominently featured on an investment banking commercial. Maybe you've seen it; it's the one where the investment banking lady ends up crowd surfing screaming "Mick!! I love you!!"

Yeah, that's rock and roll, baby!

You know that bell at the beginning of "For Whom The Bell Tolls?" I hear it tolling...for Metallica.

why can't Metallica open for the Stones? Why does every concert in your world have to include bands who play the same genre of music?

Why can't Aimee Mann open for Rush? Why can't the White Stripes play on the same bill as Sly & the Family Stone?

I love seeing concerts with a band or act I really love with another act or two who I would not normally go see...it broadens my horizons, you know?

They get slagged off for their post black stuff but I think some of the load/relaod stuff isnt as bad as people say and they have always kept up the great live stuff. At least they did try other stuff instead of doing the same album over and over like some other bands. I also think their next album is key after the trials of St Anger and getting it out of their system to see what direction they take.

[/ QUOTE ]

Definitely agreed. Unfortunately, bands face a double-edged sword. If they continue to pump out the same sounding music album after album, then people get bored and/or start to complain. If they do diversify and add new style and sound, then they get accused of "selling out/sucking" because they're NOT playing the same music as the first X albums.

I really like Load for the different sound. Some of the last tracks (Outlaw Torn, Thorn Within, Ronnie...the first was even better on S&M) are the best on the album, IMHO. Way better than the songs that got radio play. All that being said, nothing compares to Puppets. St Anger did leave me wondering where they're going from that album...
