Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
teddyfbi plays full-time for income and obviously is in the 'yes' camp.
otherwise though, I do think your observation has some validity. |

Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
I don't even consider myself a gambler and I'd take that bet without thinking.

Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
65s is a little better than the other SCs because it beats AA's wheel. I guess this a a question of how much you value your BR. As a 76% favorite at least, most recreational players would take this bet no problem.

Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
If I knew someone who'd stake me if I busted I might say yes. Otherwise it's a definite no. I need my money to pay the bills. I become a bum if I drop my BR.

Definite NO!
You are risking not only your bankroll but all future winnings made from having the bankroll. |

The 32% of people who answered no should not be playing poker. [ QUOTE ] Once you double up, then what? Would you do it again? Keep doing it till you're broke?? [/ QUOTE ] [/ QUOTE ] The people saying yes to this most likely do not have big bankrolls and could replenish them easily, or are just full of crap. Also, if this bet was continaully offered to them and they kept taking it, which using their logic they undoubtedly would, going broke is an inevitability. No way in hell I risk my whole bankroll on AA all-in HU. A percentage yes, the whole thing, no. Nigel |

On Empire yes, party no way in hell
Seriously though -- no I would not. I would be willing to risk maybe 50 BBs or so. I have worked to hard on my bankroll, that if I lost it all, it would take me too long to rebuild it, where as if I keep going at my current pace I KNOW that I will be fine. |

Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
I said yes, but I keep my bankroll down to only a few thousand dollars, which I could recoup in a couple of weeks if I played enough.
Probably the most I'd do it for would be about 10K, give or take depending on my level of need in the real world at the time. To put another way what others have already pointed out: there are diminishing returns. That first 10K might be much more important to me than the next 10K. |

Re: Your ENTIRE bankroll on AA...do you do it?
I'm more curious about what percentage is your 'breaking point' for such a wager.
Okay...so you're willing to put all your money on the line for an 85% 'roll of the dice' (note - it doesn't matter if we're talking AA or we're talking about a 100-sided die here....we're actually NOT playing poker in the question given). Do you take this chance at 77%? 71%? 68%? As I stated already: I am liking my 99% chance of doubling my money by playing small a LOT better. But obviously some people are okay to do this at 85%...and I'm curious if any of those same people would be okay to do it if the chances for success were at 75% or lower. |
