[ QUOTE ] Deep sea fishing trip? [/ QUOTE ] I think this is a great idea. I don't know many kids that wouldn't like this. [/ QUOTE ] very read-dependent. I'm 18, throughout most of my childhood, I went off-shore fishing with my dad. Towards my early-teens I started to dislike it. Now I hate it. It's not for everone. |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] If he likes poker, teach him how to play and open him an account somewhere. [/ QUOTE ] This is retarted. [/ QUOTE ] Why, I'm 15 and if I didn't have an account this would be the coolest gift by far. [/ QUOTE ] You will make an awesome father. Son: Dad, let's go outside and play catch! You: Um, you know what? Here's 20 bucks. Go play poker or something. I'm sure poker is the last thing on David's "to-do with son" list right now. |

Re: Where would a 14 year old boy want to go with his father?
My son and I generally have different interests. I have always made an effort to seek out interests we can share. It takes a little work but it has made a big difference in our relationship. So my advice is to try to find something that interests him that you can do together.
I am a pacifist and my son is very interested in wars and guns and stuff like that. Basically violence that I find abhorrent. Lately he has shown an interest in the Vietnam War. So we have read, studied and discussed the history of the war, rented some movies of and about that era and in August we are going to Washington D.C. to visit the Vietnam War memorial. It's all about finding common ground. Good luck and enjoy your time with your son. |
