Re: Hypothetical: Ex-con playing the WSOP?
I'm sure there are other international examples but Carlo Citrone (UK pro) spend some time in prison for cigarette smuggling last year and he's over at the WSOP so I doubt its an issue.
I'd gues that if you can get into the country in the first place (I'm sure you have to declare criminal records, or at least some specific convictions, on the immigration Visa waiver form) then you are OK to play. Sheriff |

Re: Hypothetical: Ex-con playing the WSOP?
If you are US citizen all you would need was a waiver from your state that you are on parole with. I can't see any violent offender ever getting a chance to enter the US no matter how rich he was.

Re: Hypothetical: Ex-con playing the WSOP?
Excerpt from Form DS-156, Nonimmigrant Visa Application [pdf]:
"A visa may not be issued to persons who are within specific categories defined by law as inadmissible to the United States (except when a waiver is obtained in advance). Is any of the following applicable to you? "Have you ever been arrested or convicted for any offense or crime, even though subject of a pardon, amnesty or other similar legal action? Have you ever unlawfully distributed or sold a controlled substance (drug), or been a prostitute or procurer for prostitutes? YES NO" |
