Actually,[most] people need to be told what to think.
Any very powerful/influente leader or whatever ( I know it's sound facist but that the way) just have to declare strongly. ex : I don't really know Bush but here how it would be done : wrong way : " I think homosexual are ok people" right wa : " Homosexual are proud american that benefit to society ( and so on)). Although, you can't eradicate racism. It's funny because once I was watching television and there was this show, I am not sure but "Elder" or "doctor Phil". Anyway I was a white boy who wanted to mary a black girl. The father was a redneck ( by appearance and by language [I thought this was funny]) saying that it is not the way it is and that every "race" should stay where they are. You sir are full of shiit.

To answer the original question: My guess is that it is because there are actually many different races in the US.
Whereas for example, in a homogeneous country, say Germany, you are either a German or an Ausländer (foreigner).

All of those will see at least a moderate decrease in the level of racism within the next 50 years.

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with this. (though, fwiw, most of those feelings will be directed towards one or two specific ethnicities, while racism, on the whole, can still decrease)
