[ QUOTE ]
Also, IIRC an english billion is one million million, not one thousand million.

Someone chime in if they know better.

[/ QUOTE ]

if what you're referring to is the difference in currency, it would be a little less than twice as much, when converting pounds to dollars.

if you're not referring to currency differences, then i have no clue what you could possibly mean.

a billion is a thousand million, when referring to numbers, in a decimal system, no matter what.

well cute.

but i thought that the context of the thread is referring to the value of the party float.

thus, this is what i responded to

i can assure you that for this purpose, their float is not worth 1000 times as much as 5 billion pounds.

it seems as though we like to show how clever we all are.

i, perhaps naively, try to restrcit my answers to what i perceive the jist of threads to be, and not deviate to the extraeneous.

mea culpa.

That makes perfect sense. And that's why Party will never do it. Why should they upset their sterling customer service record by doing something right?

i decided to ask Party if they were thinking about offering shares direct to players

here's their reply fyi:

"PartyGaming has announced its intention to seek a listing on the London Stock Exchange. Due to securities laws restrictions, and in common with many IPOs of shares listed on the London Stock Exchange, shares in PartyGaming will only be offered and sold to certain institutional and professional investors outside of the US, Australia, Canada and Japan. There will be no offer to retail investors in the IPO.

If you want further clarification on this point, including how shares in PartyGaming may be acquired following the IPO, please contact your financial advisor."
