Reasonable bankroll for the Party 30/60?
I'm hearing from many that the varience is high in this game, and that expected win-rates should be much lower than the good old 15 game.
So given that, anyone have any thoughts on what is a good bankroll to keep in the party account? I used to keep 18K for the 15 game, but I really don't think thats at all sufficient for the 30. I'm thinking I might keep 25K, but I'm also wondering if that might be too low as well. Thoughts? -Scott |

I lost 7500 monday, and still won for the week, about 7k hands....
need 12 min to start a session 4 tabling I think, so 20-25 should be about right... |

Re: Reasonable bankroll for the Party 30/60?
way to high.
bankroll is a personal decision. It's a reflection of a lot of things. Like working capital for a business, some players like a lot, some dont need so much. the primary factors are: 1. your opportunity cost (money market rates) 2. your access to capital (if you are willing and able to transfer money in immediately) 3. risk penchant etc. in any event, keeping 50k in a party account is silly. Although, 2.5% on that money isnt all that much if you are inconvenienced by moving it around. the point im making i guess, is if you are a solid winning player who hits an extended downswing, you dont need to prepare for that contingency in the party account itself. outside accounts can be considered "pseudo-bankroll" as well. after all, neteller is pretty easy to use. |

Re: Reasonable bankroll for the Party 30/60?
Bankroll is not a personal decision. you are confusing immediate buyin capital with bankroll. Its the amount of money you have in total to play poker with. Now if part of it is sitting in a money market account, it is still part of your bankroll, ok?
I want the amount to provide a reasonably low RoR. So now that we've define the word, lets get back to amount. How much of a BANKROLL do you think is reasonable for the 30/60 game? I never felt 300 BBs was sufficient for the 15, so I'm sure not going to think it is for the 30. Yet on the other hand, I don't think 833BBs as one poster mentioned is necessary either. -Scott |

If you can aproximate your edge there are calculations that will get you the answer you're looking for. In other words, you don't have to guess or accept other people's guesses. See Mason's- Gambling Theory and Other Topics.

Personally I think 25-30K is about right.

Re: Reasonable bankroll for the Party 30/60?
there is no way this is not a personal decision
are you saying there is a "right" answer? |

Re: Reasonable bankroll for the Party 30/60?
You're right, there really is no 'right' answer. It's a matter of what a player is comfortable with. I have always felt that I needed 1000 bb's for any limit I played on playing exclusively.
