2:49 when I was 11 years old. You remember that little kid that could always swim underwater further than all the other kids?

That was me.

Now, mebbe a minute thirty or so. Old man, out of shape, y'know.

Actually, just tried it, and 1:46.

One try. 1:37. I bet I could do 2. Probably not much longer than that.

i wonder what factors determine the amount of time one can hold his or her breath. maybe the altitude you live in? how "in shape" you are? i don't know.

I think having a goal that you are trying to beat helps.

Being in shape matters, as would DEFINITELY altitude, but most live in areas where this matters little. If you spend a lot of time holding your breath, like anything else, you will get better at it.

Approaching one minute...

Approaching two minutes...and starting to hurt.

2:12 first try. Will try again in a couple minutes.

I've actually found these results suprising. There are plenty of people out there who can go well over 4 minutes. I guess the average 2+2er isnt really in the greatest shape due to posting/playing poker. I'm glad there are plenty of people around the 1 1/2 min. range like me. I just thought it was totally nuts that I couldnt do at least 2 minutes. I'm going to keep at it and pretty soon (according to the book) I'll be a genius.
