[ QUOTE ]
Against solid or semi-solid players, I time my clicks purposefully because most people I talk to think exactly the same as you.

[/ QUOTE ]

Same here.

When I'm betting the flop after raising preflop, I try to time it the same whether I've hit or not *every time*.

However, I have used the "really long pause with the nuts on the river" strategy before, because I think it works against bad players. It worked against me when I was starting out!

Oddly, I was just thinking this morning that I play my best when I force myself to take an extra two beats during every decision before I act.

One of the most reliable timing tells I see is when the BB gets a free look and then hesitates because he flopped a good hand. Usually he checks very quikly.

He hesitates and then checks very quickly?

How do you tell that from when he's hesitating less, but checking very slowly? Or not hesitating at all, but checking at medium speed?

I think some of these insights are over-rated.

Blarg - Please cut some slack for those from non-english speaking countries who are trying to participate in the discussion. Sometimes their ideas just don't come through as clearly but that's no reason to get on their case about it.

(brick's home is listed as 'Seattle'...that counts as a foreign country doesn't it??)

Say you raise KQ on the button, get only one caller, and the flop comes ace high. If I bet and get called really quickly, I think caller is often thinking "showdown"

Im a newbie, This is something i caught onto when i first started playing.

I always use these tells, Of course i dont rely on them. They could be watching porn for all i know but they have helped fair bit in knowing if hes got a strong hand.

Please dont flame me - I dont rely on them, Just extra bit of information sometimes. AutoCall/Bets also help, Only use them along with reads on an opponant.

Interesting thread. While I agree that online tells are tough to find, there are two that I've used successfully - the "insta-bet" (or "insta-raise") and the looooong "thinking" pause on the turn or river. The only way I've been able to put any faith in these tells has been to watch for them and then note for future reference if they were reliable or not. It seems to me that poor players tend use them more predictably and it has been profitable for me to have notes on certain people (e.g., known fish) saying things like "'thought' before betting nuts on river." Oh yeah - and I agree that it is always worth noting who's multi-tabling.

Steve
