Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
I understand what your saying. But those things such as getting reads also come very naturally if you are a player/thinker while not missing a single action. Does that make sense?
I retract my semi-durogatory comment. |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
I can't believe how many replies there are to this post, and only one of them gives a figure (95k), which is wrong. how much you make as a dealer depends a lot on where you work. in california, most of them make around 200-250 a day. in vegas, they make less than that. in certain smaller casinos, like colorado or palm springs, they might make as much as 400 a day working the best shifts.
so dealers in california make around 40-60k a year, vegas, 30-40k a year, and in the best jobs, they make upwards of 60k a year. |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
bremen is right, the dealer should be paying attention to his job, not watching the players for tells or playing strategies. dealers who think they are invloved in the game beyond their duties are just kidding themselves.
and any dealer who tries to punish a player by mucking his cards will find himself on the short end of the tipping stick. just do your job, and leave your ego out of it. if you had what it takes to be a player, you already would be. |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
Another thing to consider is that most of your income is in the form of tips, which let's face it will not get reported 100% on your tax return no matter how honest everyone claims to be. Let's say you make 40K in tips for the year....you would claim a reasonable amount on your tax return of let's say 25K. You now have 15K of TAX FREE income which is really like making 25K pre tax. So the dealer who brings in 50K in cash is really comparable to a 65 - 70K job in the "real world". Yes, you could get audited but they would never find out your real earnings....and I would know as I am a CPA.

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
some casinos have locked tip boxes the dealers carry with them. at the end of their shift, the box is unlocked by the cashier and the contents counted. these dealers have to pay taxes on every dollar they make.

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
anyone think this is absolutely ludicrous pay for a job which requires very little training/no outside talent?
damn, look at this: http://www.losangelesalmanac.com/top...yment/em12.htm an LA fricking poker dealer makes twice to three times the median LA income? you've got to be joking me. many/most of these people don't even do their job well. we need to give members of the LAUSD tip boxes. fim |

Re: How much do casino poker dealers make?
No. Having to deal with other people sucks. People are jerks.
Dealers, waiters and other service industry people deserve every dime they get. Edited to remove a rather negative tone. |
