If you play 20k blinds, what were you doing playing 1/2?

IMO yes you were correct in calling the floor. I would have done it the second it happend instead of waiting until the hand was over.

Make it $2-5 blinds, and I take back everything I just said.

You can accomplish the same thing by selling them red chips to play with.

[/ QUOTE ]

No you can't!!!

You're still going to have a bunch of nits, wanting to see a bunch of hands without having to pay a lot to sit there, waiting for the nuts.

Make the BB $5 or more, and you won't have a table full of nits--you'll have people who came to GAMBLE.

$1-2 NL is a different animal. It sticks out like a sore thumb. The house doesn't drop enough to pay the bar tab, let alone the meal comps and room rates.

Somebody posted a few months ago that $1-2 NL is today's version of $1-3 stud. I think that sums it up.

If this is the case you need some combination of faster dealers, higher rake, and fewer comps. Seating the game 9 handed as it is supposed to be played makes a difference also.

I hadn't considered that. Yes, 9-handed would make a huge difference.

In all cases, I think it's always better to do it the same way that everyone else in the world does it.

[/ QUOTE ]

I used to be a big fan of having the same rules everywhere but I've changed my mind after reading this forum (in particular Tommy Angelo).

Without some rooms being able to try something new how would we ever get great rules like "Buy the Button"?

That said, the important rules regarding betting, raising, and who gets the pot be as standard and well thought out and written as possible. In these areas, when changes are made they should be made sensibly and with the concurrence of all.

The norm however, is that the demand is SO high that casinos are FORCED to take almost whomever will take the job, because they can't keep dealers in stock. So take the good with the bad when it comes to the poker boom, and lay off the dealers already. - al

Great point. Training and retaining top dealers is a huge problem at most clubs. If the players made it easier on a beginning but earnest dealer, we would get a lot better dealing in a couple of years.

I have NO trouble calling the floor to make the decision.

[/ QUOTE ]

Soon I will make it to your game and see how many times we can get the floor over.

Hi Kaz:

No. You should call the floorman over immediately and make sure the dealer understands the rule for the future.

Best wishes,
Mason
