Re: My new B&M showdown style
Think I have to avoid watching this. I remember how annoyed I was with people being so impressed by Rounders that they quoted it at the table. Now this.

that's considered slow rolling and poor ediquette. [/ QUOTE ] If you do it quickly, then freeze the position as your eyes lock, I don't see how it could be considered slow-rolling. |

Wouldn't you have felt like a tool if someone showed you QQ? [ QUOTE ]
I've actually done that. Dealt pocket kings bet , raise, bet , raise Flop comes down and gives me the nut boat, kings full of queens. Have five idiots down to the river and no one has anything better than a two pair. I am so disgusted that I just lift the cards up in front of me so that they can all see that I had them at the flop. True story. Happened at Caesars in Indiana. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: My new B&M showdown style
"what, is that like your big finish or something?"
at Canterbury, your hot move would be promptly called upon by the dealer, as the hand isn't declared till it's face up on the table - but hey....this is TV after all RB |

Re: My new B&M showdown style
Yes TV and movies do influence people. You can see what ESPN has done to influence intellectually maleable boys in their 20's at B & M poker rooms.
Slow rolling is not a good thing to do unless you want people to think you are an a-hole and enjoy talking to floor people. Same thing with what I've noticed to be a new fad among tools, namey just showing ONE card that they need to win the hand when it's a common rule at B&M rooms that BOTH cards need to be shown to win the pot. Guys who do stuff like this just make fools of themselves at the table. Behavior on TV and in movies should not be copied in real life. But they will be, so get ready for the behavior at B&M's to get worse as college boys start watching TILT... |

Re: My new B&M showdown style
Everyone laugh. Shortly after retarded ESPN show airs, someone at your local B&M will do this to you. End laughter.

Re: My new B&M showdown style
[ QUOTE ]
If you haven't seen the commercials on ESPN for TILT, you might not get this, but it is so sweet I had to post. From now on, when I play live poker and have to show my hand at the end, I am doing it Matador-style. This is so awesome. Imagine moving all in with the nuts on the river. Your opponent calls. In the past, I would just flip my cards over onto the table. No more. Now, I do it Matador-style. For those of you who haven't seen this, imagine the cards sitting on the table in front of me. I grab the edge of the cards closest to me. Then I slowly tilt the cards up like so: (me -- ) (me / ) (me | ) until my opponent can see them. AWESOME! [/ QUOTE ] When you do this make sure you purse your lips and/or furrow your brow. That will make it even more AWESOME! In fact, while you are doing aforementioned pursing and/or furrowing, if you can channel Ben Stiller channeling Tom Cruise, it could make your showdown perhaps the most AWESOME thing in poker showdown history. |

Re: My new B&M showdown style
Pursing the lips and furrowing the brow would be a great alternate touch. Sort of like the expression Trump wears when he says "You're fired!"
