however, i dont know if the tip was just. you mentioned trying to be served alcohol underage and she didnt allow it. you have to realize that by trying to get alcohol underage you are putting the waitress at jeopardy if she serves it to you and therefore she has a right to be aggrivated by your inconsiderate actions.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can understand her being aggravated. But as I said, we were very polite and we didnt give her any sort of attitude at all about the alcohol thing. We even apologized for asking. And the service was absolutely horrendous. She ignored our table for the whole meal more or less, and was very rude when we flagged her down to get our drinks refilled.

Last x-mas, I tipped my hair stylist $50 on a $25 cut. She kept telling me how handsome I was. I'm a sucker for when chicks tell me I'm handsome and given it was also around x-mas I was very generous.

You're 2+2's expert on hookers and escorts and the best you can come up with is tipping your hair stylist.....

This not about a tip I gave, but a tip someone else at my table gave.

I was running a conference in New Orleans (where I live), and I had plans to go out to dinner with a friend of mine who was attending the conference and staying at my house. We were having pre-dinner drinks at the Carousel Bar when we saw someone I knew casually from other conferences standing at the bar entrance looking woebegone. It turned out that she was supposed to meet some people for dinner, her session ran late, and they left without her. So we invited her to join as at an Italian restaurant in the Quarter. I rarely eat in the Quarter, so I wasn't really that familiar with this place. It turned out that it was opera night, and we were subjected to caterwauling (er, I mean opera singing) the whole evening. The food though was pretty good. When the bill came the woman whose friends had abandoned her said that they had been planning on a less expensive place, and she couldn't cover her share (didn't stop her from ordering numerous courses though). So I sucked it up and picked up her end. And then SHE STUCK TWENTY-FIVE DOLLARS IN THE PANTS of the Latin-lover-type singing waiter. I haven't spoken to that bitch since....

I can't believe all these people overtipping to try and change someone's behaviour.

If no-one tipped them they would probably buck up their attitude sharpish.

[/ QUOTE ]
I've worked in food service long enough to know this isn't how it works. When my fellow servers would get stiffed, they usually got pissed and used that as en excuse to be bitter to other guests, not as an opportunity to ask "what did I do wrong."

Self-Fullfilling Prophecy?

Waitress sees punk kids, who she doesn't expect a good tip from...gives shitty service because she doesn't expect much...kids get shitty service and leave lousy tip confirming her expectation.

Didn't I read in the B&M Vegas thread about someone tipping the dealer the whole pot?

[/ QUOTE ]

I think it was one of the cuter dealers but I'm not sure.
