Default Re: Free 15/30 PokerTracker Database 300K hands

Can anyone confirm that PV combine stats from multiple databases? Has anyone actually got it to work? No matter how many I add PV only loads info from 1 database for me.

btw, thanks for the great database

This will not be good for the long-term health of the games. There already exist other trends which will seriously hurt them in the long run, too.

I hope you reconsider, Krishan.

This isn't Magic the Gathering where the decks change every few months as new cards come out. In that game it didn't hurt to publish great decks that were on their way out. In online poker however too many good PT'ed-up multitablers with big databases will hurt your online earning power significantly. You are just helping people catch up so you and every other good player will make less. Do you want the camaraderie or do you want the money? If you want camaraderie there are far better places than the internet to get it, such as in live casino play.

Pretend for a moment that M:TG never changed, that new cards NEVER came out and rules remained fixed. Would you publish your best database and analysis then, if you were a player playing to make money?

Maybe you have another reason for doing this. Mind if I ask what it is? All I see are negatives so it might help if you would elaborate a bit.

And to all you greedy guys who said, "Great!" without really thinking about it...this will probably hurt you more than help you in the long run. Something to think about: You don't make most of your money in poker because you are so good or because you have PT with a big database. You make most of your money because certain of your opponents are so bad. Things that will help level the online playing field will take away a lot of your profit and the house rake will eventually get it instead of you. Giving everryone a big PT database will help level the field quite a bit. Well you just gave the house your profit off that "D" player who just became a "B" player. Now you can't beat him for more than the rake which means you can't beat him at all now.

Of course there are other ways people improve. I just think giving them such a large immediate chance at improvement is bad poker. In other words, Krishan, if your goal is solely to make money selling stuff it is one thing. But if your goal is to beat online poker it may be best not to shoot yourself in the foot. This is different than tecaching people to play well a la books or posts. This is just a free boost for everyone. Sorry to say it, but it looks like a bad bad idea in my opinion.

Krishanleong is not doing anything that isn't already being done by others, and available to all, for a fee. I don't see how this is greatly detrimental to the game since the data is already out there.

I appreciate the data (though I'm not a 15/30 player).

I'm not charging anything for this right now. If you want to donate something to help defray the costs of running the website, that would be great.

(emphasis added)

Maybe this doesn't continue; maybe it does continue with fees to cover costs involved; maybe it evolves into a profitable business. In any event, this is not something that no one else is doing and I don't see how some think this impacts the long-term health of these games given the data is already available elsewhere.

I'm sooooooooooo with MMMMMM on this one.

It's greed, sure...but I really don't need 18 milion decent poker players catching up without really even having to do anything.
