Re: VPIP < 20 ?
as usual, Bison is right. AJo in EP, I would likely raise in most PP games, same for TT. JTs I would limp with as long as the table was not too tight, which, let's be honest is not really of much concern for party 2/4 or 3/6

Re: VPIP < 20 ?
I was gonna post that J3 hand as "88 HU against a lag", but I realized that there was nothing I could have done to have won more or lost less with that hand.
I was playing 6 3/6 tables for the first time this afternoon, and the only hand I know I misplayed because of the time crunch was that hand where you raised me with 6-high on a broadway river when I had a set of nines. I don't think I knew I had a set of nines until the river, even though I flopped it. It turns out if I'd pushed any harder, I wouldn't have won as much. |

Re: VPIP < 20 ?
My 3-betting hands reach their limit at A2s. If I'm in late position. Unless I'm in EP and there are lots of callers and a reraise in LP, then I'd cap for value. BTW, I bet my overall VPIP is higher than yours.

Re: VPIP < 20 ?
I have 25k hands from .5/1 through 3/6 in my database and have constantly through the levels had a vpip of around 15%, I have stareted opening up a touch using the tight setting from SSH and adapting it as I gain confidance eg limping PP's early after another limper etc. My post vpip since adapting the SSH starting reqirtements is now 17-18%.
I think what is more key is not your starting requirements but how well you play post flop, I suggest for inexperienced players starting off tighter and gradually increasing the hand you play is better than playing loose and trying to reduce. On the subject of multitabling I was playing 6-7 tables last night and ended up check calling when I had a king high straight flush when I though I was beaten by the Ace high. Its the first time I have played that many tables and found it was not as tough as I thought, there are times when you have hands going on a couple of tables that it gets stressfull and I suspect I made some bad decisions but its somthing that I am going to stick with and see how it goes. |

VPIP 20+, voice of dissent.
My VPIP is almost 22% for 5-10 games.
Not only am I profitable, but I bet that I have more fun than those guys with a VPIP around 15%. |

Re: VPIP 20+, voice of dissent.
I am assuming that is 7% more fun. Bob, I thought you didn't use PokerTracker. I just started playing regularly on the internet and I have been thinking about it but I don't want my game to get all mechanical.
