What would you do here with AK?
Because that's what you should do now. |

[/ QUOTE ] Sometimes you can't get the money in. It sucks, but sometimes the best you can hope for is you check, he throws out a hopeful $30, you call & he gives up. Our objective should be to maximise value across his entire hand range, not make a play purely for the small chance he decides to go crazy & bluff re-raise you all in with nothing. |

I'm surprised by the number of people advocating checking. That seems silly to me.
Who has ever heard of a player reraising preflop then checking on that board? I think not betting would be unexpected. If you want to induce a bluff (or call), then I recommend the ol' "fake pause"/underbet move. If someone puts in a second raise then checks the flop, they're almost always slowplaying. |

I agree with Goldstone. If you bet here you're hoping he makes a bluff reraise with air. If he's just an unsophisticated thief he's going to go after the pots he gets the least resistance for.
The only hands we are worried about giving free cards to are high pocket pairs, and surely no one is suggesting that with 10-10 or better our Villain checks behind us on that flop. If he's got a high PP then the money's going in either way. But with air he's far more likely to bluff against a check than a bet. He doesn't want to give us a chance to improve for free either. |

[/ QUOTE ] Yes, I considered this immediately after posting. If you would bet with AK, then bet with the flopped nuts. The size of that bet could be argued ad nauseum. |
