Re: Sweating Commerce 20/40: AAAA No Good? Or are they? (LC-ish)
My buddy played this hand, not me. 2-5 live NL. Bunch of limpers and he checks 44 in the BB.
Flop is 4x 4[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] 5[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] checked around. Turn 6[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] It's either checked around or someone makes a small bet, I don't remember. River 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] He checks. A LP straight-forward player bets and another player raises. He looks over at the first guy and can see he nearly already has all his chips in the pot, then folds. One had the 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] and the other had the 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]. Looks like slowplaying flopped quads is a bad idea. |

The EV in free drinks for telling this story over the course of a lifetime is much higher than any possible calling EV.
"Did I tell you about the time I folded quad aces?" |

I know this may be considered irrelevant to the actual strategy of the hand...but doesn't cracked AAAA pay a massive bad beat jackpot at that limit at commerce? Even if its less than 8k it gives better odds to call, its worth considering. Not sure if you have to table the cards for the jackpot.

Re: Sweating Commerce 20/40: AAAA No Good? Or are they? (LC-ish)
The guy clearly had a royal flush because if he bluffed him off quad aces he would defintely show it. I think a lot of this depends on the guy was a playing like a complete donk you'd probably need to think about. Secondly considering how rarely royal flushes come around don't you think the guy would try to get some value out of it instead of just pushing.
