I know this may be unpopular but the post of the year for me anyways was the original Empire 500 bonus code. It turned out to be a disaster afterwards, BUT not for everyone. There's lots of people who did get the $500 bonus this I know for a fact (if you know what I mean, hint hint, wink wink)......and some even got their bonus after it was taken back from 90% of the players.

2+2 has been helpful to me, lots of great information and all but this was THEE first post on this forum that actually paid imediate dividends for me....if you know what I mean.

poster of the year for me is MicroBob. I do enjoy reading his posts. Some are pretty deep and thought provoking and it does give a glimpse of what's it like to play for a living.

I think he should post a blog. I think a lot of people would be interested and follow his journal. If I was playing for a living I would definately be posting a blog too. It's a great way to stay focused, plus it's fun.
As I am right now I hardly have time to get a few hours of pooker in everyday.

Pattern maps because it made me laugh for days. Honorable mention to Homer's Building a Bankroll and the Empire 500.

Microbob for consistency throughout the year. Many others post good stuff (helpful, funny or both) but no one did it day in and day out like he did.

Gabyyyyy for sheer perserverence. Honorable mention to Bumpenstein for his cast of characters and not getting caught at it.

I can't think of a post off the top of my head, but I'd say Microbob for poster of the year. Watching his evolution as a player and poster over the last year has been really enjoyable and I've learned to steer clear of him at the tables (luckily I don't believe he knows my my user name, so I have a slight advantage those times the game is too juicy to leave).

Homer, for his spreadsheets, casino whoring posts and Building a Bankroll. (Honourable mention: Cubswin, for his news updates.)

Dunno, they're all equally dull.

Most Improved Poster: Microbob. The quality of his posts have improved dramatically. The length of his posts are still the same (hefty) but the quality is much better, well done Bob.

You think??
LOL

Actually, believe it or not I have been working on keeping my posts more concise and believe I have actually been marginally successful.
some of my early posts were even longer, sillier rants about nothing inparticular.

Thanks for the compliment.

IMHO

I think thread of the year was the one where everyone tried to be the final poster in the thread, till Matt gave us a winner by closing the thread after like 400 posts.
I dont know how to find it, but I thought that was funny yet annoying

Troll of the year is Ryan

Poster of the year is Matt with the "Affiliate Party is Over" Thread

Post of the year was the one that showed us all the Lucky Nugget Bonus of 200 for 50 that got everyone into casino whoring....... till they caught on

This was a funny thread where the Nutz Poker guy blames losing his job on William.

1. The FAQ is good, also like the No Affiliate post by Mat.

2. Pattern Map, or Empire 500.

3. Micro Bob - no contest.

4. Troll of the Year: Steven Punk.

Explaination: This forum often misuses the term "troll" in my opinion. Troll has to do with the intent of the poster, not the reader's reaction. In other words, a troll has an ulterior motive and is trying to get a response from another for an unstated reason.

Here, this forum tends to label a poster that is unpopular, stupid, naive or commonly disagreed with a "troll." For example, Gabbyyyy is not a troll (unless her whole persona is a put on). Gabbyyyy is a genuine poster who is a number of things (combative, stupid, funny, pathetic, etc.) but, it is all sincere.

Cyndie, on the other hand, was a troll. She presented issues and "help" but only because she was trying to steer customers her way. She does not qualify for this year, however, because she practically closed up shop at the end of 2003.

Humorous posters/characters. These types of posters cannot be trolls, because the purpose is clearly presented ... they are there as a joke. Since you cannot take the joker seriously, there is nothing for the poster to be "trolling." Ice Man is a good example: he always stayed in his character, and it was obvious he was not a serious poster. That is not a troll ... its a humorous character.

Gregorio/Tyfromm: Was a troll, in fact he was the personification of the troll. He started by copying and bumping other people's threads, and made it his purpose to bother people. However, despite the creativity of his bumping technique, he was not creative or subtle in his trolling technique. In fact, once his named became locked in as Tyfromm, he became non-troll and often contributes humorous posts. "He" would be troll of the year if not for Punk.

TT is like Andy Kaufmann for the Zoo. He was pushing the envelope and getting people to react strongly to seemingly innocuous posts. Although Steven Punk is/was a humorous character, he was created with many subtle trolling techniques.

For example: the simple mispellings of the purported noble man. Countless times posters would go out of their way to correct the spellings and debate punk on trivial issues, all the while, TT intended such a reaction.

To take it further, many posters went out of their way to "track" TT and his characters and otherwise waste their time. In fact, TT invited and expected such reactions, thus he was trolling in high style.

So, I vote Steven Punk as troll of the year.

Also, I would like to state that I appreciate the humor and good nature of 2000 Flushes, ArchAngel, Thomas Tem, Bump-en-Stein (and friends), Husker, Something Clever, AstroGlide and william (wherever he went). I read this forum primarily for the information, but I like to laugh as well.
