Whoops, misread the post. 150BB in 1K, not 1500. It sucked nonetheless.

My personal experience is as follows..

I hit a mild downswing (75--150BB) every 15,000 hands or so.
About every 50,000 that mild downswing becomes a biggy 200+BB.

Thankfully usally after I run bad I have always had a major upswing.

I wouldnt' get too concerned untill you hit like -200 BB, then step back, look at your play and maybe take a week off.

Sidenote:Saying josh really sucks isn't cool. Josh is a great player, Evan sucks.

eh, its only 25 big bets. I never expect it to happen when I sit down (famous last words) but I'm never surprised when it does. I've started lots of multitable sessions down 100 bucks at 2/4 only to rebound and break even or post a slight win.

poker is a fickle bitch.

good luck turning it around, but we all know you will.

This would make for a much cooler 2+2 shirt than the one they're currently selling.

I was on a 110BB downswing before I headed out to Vegas and continued down another 100BB. I have no real beef with my play. There were a couple of times I gave too much action and a couple of times I made weak tight folds from getting my head kicked in, but in general I played strong. At times, I played awesomely.

I learned a lot from this downswing in that this was the first time I've suffered one of this size in live play. Mentally, there's a huge difference between an online swing and a live swing. The boredom and frustration you fight while playing 3 tables online is absolute paradise compared to sitting at a live table with your thumb up your ass watching your chips go to other people's stacks. Over, and over and over again.

In about 60 hours of play, I logged one winning session in limit play (I won both NL sessions). I actually got indigestion at one point when I was down 150BB in live play until I logged that winning session. I had never experienced stress like that before - and I've had some stressfull jobs and situations before. But I literally was sick to my stomach.

One trip to the OC and a couple of glasses of McCallan took the edge off. But the bitter taste is still there.

Enjoy the ride,

- Jim

Nah, you shouldn't start making less ev plays because you're convinced you're bound to lose. I mean you're talking about like changing your preflop aggression with AA or KK cause you're running bad and the like. Any sort of strategy similar to this will only extend your losing streaks.

Exactly.

This is a form of tilt.

You couldn't be more wrong. What's funny is how much short term luck is downplayed by most serious poker players. You see guys like yourself all the time, guys who play pretty well, asking why they're losing so much. They're in a bad run. It happens. Diablo just said in another thread that he examines his bad runs and finds himself playing bad during the later stages of them. Others have said that too.

If you're running bad, have been getting cracked repeatedly and feel like nothing is going your way, how is taking a break tilting?
