Only 46 left?

Dutch Boyd at 30...I wonder if he makes the final table (wins $1million) will he buck up and pay the debts. IIRC he claimed if he won the year Moneymaker won (2.x million) he would repay the debt.

A quick glance at the numbers says this is just the top counts, I have no clue what they are playing down to tonight. 400?

[/ QUOTE ]

What amazes me is how luck can turn on you. Sam Farha started in 2nd place chip count at one point and got eliminated today. And this after he came in second to Moneymaker in 2003.

Farha is horrible.

My gosh. Even if only 1/2 of the above make it to the final table, I will actually watch the ME this year when it airs.

PokerWire just posted new chip counts, Raymer at 1.2 mil.

I had avoided commenting about Raymer, because I felt it was much too early.

But this is starting to get interesting...

Obviously the chances of him winning again aren't that high, but a final table appearance would be incredible to me.

Does he have more pressure because he is defending or less because he has a full bank account, and a ME bracelet already?

Raymer joins Matusow's table

Greg Raymer just drew Mike Matusow's table. We could be in for a rematch of last year's key confrontation between the two.

My question is this...
How big an edge do you think being the defending champion is against online qualifiers? By this I simply mean how many pots are slightly inflated for Greg by players playing to knock out the world champ and get a story to tell? Thoughts?

300 players left or so...you listed 9 of the top 36...and somehow think that 4 or 5 of those that you listed could make the final table?
Highly unlikely.

In other news - What Greg is doing is absolutely sick. To battle his way through such a gigantic field and have the chip lead this late in the tournament is just freaking incredible.

I'm also half-rooting for JC Tran (26th place). He's the guy I sucked-out against in the double-shootout to win my seat.
The kid is freaking good and even though I got super lucky to beat him I wouldn't mind saying that I beat the world-champ.

I also can't begin to express how much it bugs me that Dutch Boyd is still around in this thing.
Big time bummer.

"last year's key confrontation between the two."

What key confrontation? ESPN showed that and it becomes a key confrontation? Matusow was being a dick, yeah, that's a key moment in the tournament right there.

It was clearly a very key pot for both Raymer and Matusow.

You must be talking about their altercation that took place when they weren't at the featured table.
