Search and find theBrusier's story. . .he went from swallowing his pride and dropping down to $25 NL to $50/100 NL in less than a year.

[/ QUOTE ]

I can't find it. Maybe I suck at searching stuff here.

Could you provide a link to his story?

Thanks.

i remember this the first time around, and it's just as funny now as it was then. how can anyone not love bruiser with quotes like these?:

"I'm starting with a bankroll of $115 today and my goal is to build it up to a shitload of money."

"You'll see, my logs in the future will show you to be very wrong, you'll be embarrasing by my brillant success."

the brashness seems almost to be both 100% serious and 100% tongue-in-cheek at the same time, i'm not sure how he pulls it off.

Nov. 2004 - I deposited $300 started playing .5/1 limit and bonus whoring until I hit 2k at the beginning of Jan.

Jan. 2005 - Stared playing the 2/4 games on Party and broke even over the course of the month.

Feb. 2005 - I decided to start playing the $50 tables a little just to expiriment, turned my 2k into 4k in a week then went on tilt and lost about 1k. Cashed out 1k and took a break for a couple weeks and just play 5/1 and 10/1 sngs.

Mar.-Apr. 2005 - Bankroll is 2k now and I decided to play the 100 nl games, and built up to 4k.

May 2005 - School is almost out and I start playing the 200 Nl games doing pretty well.

June 2005 - Im out of school and play around 30 hours a week turning my 4k into 8k in about 3 weeks still playing the $200 tables.

June ,July 2005 - I move up to the $400 nl tables and turn my 8k into 14k in 10 days, The best run ive had yet.

July 2005 - I move up to the 600 nl tables and struggle a little but over 3 weeks make 10k putting the roll at 24k.

August 2005 - Im not sure what happened here but it seems I hit a brick wall when I went to the 1k tables I was up and down for 3 weeks then finally went down to 15k at which point I went back to 600 nl.

Now - I started 8 tabling 4 tables of 400 nl, b/c it was most profitable and 4 tables of 600 nl, I've made back about 4k in the past 2 weeks putting me at around 19k (which Ive been only playing about half as much as usual b/c of end of summer partying and whatnot) At this point im content to grind out these tables for awhile and see what happens.

I started playin seriously during winter break last year, after dropping a couple $50 deposits on party like everybody else.

started with $200 on party 25nl, bonus whored my way to 1/2 and 2/4nl over the semester.

meanwhile i went on a massive casino whoring rampage that inflated my roll ridiculously, so I started playing 5/10 and 10/20 limit 6max at the beginning of summer, despite never being able to beat 2/4. I ran well at first and stayed at 10/20 limit, and am now coming back to NL taking shots at the party 1000s.

sometimes i think i've been pretty succesful at this game, going from 25nl to 1000nl in less than a year. but then i look at guys like strasser or bk or bruiser and i'm like, wow i suck so much, i've done nothing. and this makes me work harder.

I dont play much of 5/10 yet (few k hands there but my regular game is still 600$) but I have more than 25xbuyin bankroll for that game.
I worked my way up from as low as 2$ NL which I started playing 6months ago with 30$ bankroll.
I moved up to 25$ soon (shortstack) and it was the only time when huge MTT win helped me, cause I cashed mighty 85$ for 4th place in 1$ buyin tourney . I was struggling with it for almost 2months (having largest downsing in my career, from 650$ to 250$ more than 1/2 of whole bankroll). I moved up to 200NL in 2weeks crushing 50NL and 100NL in the meantime (I put really many hands then) then stay there to earn some money (cause it was significant money for me) and then jump to 400NL and after a week to 600NL when I played almost 20k hands already and I am doing great. My plan is to move up to 5/10 in 2months or so.
My general rule was "not to move up too fast". I usually had 15xbuyin and started playing shortstack at new level (40BB) mixing it with old level. I always have more than 25xbuyin before starting playing fullstack at any level.
Edit : now I am overbankrolled to say the least even for 1k NL game but I came to the conclusion that overbankrolled is good thing which allow you to play in peaceful state of mind and eliminate almost all tilt from your game.

Best wishes

I deposited 200$ and played my first game of poker in January this year (100nl full ring on ultimatebet, and I'd read Hellmuth's book so was able to avoid going broke). Got to the point of beating 100nl comfortably and 3-tabled that for a month making steady progress. I then played 200nl full ring doing the same for most of feb, and was floating around 5k in roll when I messed around with a few 6max games and they seemed to be a lot more exciting.

Probably sometime just after the 1000nl on party opened, I suspect I was one of the fish giving money to yeti and the like, as I dabbled in the 6max there losing a fair bit, about this time I discovered 2+2 and dropped back to 400nl 6max 2-tabling, which I did mixing with 600nl on weekends and then gradually replacing completely. I now 3-table 600nl and quite comfortable playing any 600nl party table, dipping into the 1k 6max on a saturday if im in the right mood.

A poll like this should include a "does not apply" type answer so that people who don't fit the poll question can see the results without skewing them.

I started playing $5 sngs about 1.5 years ago with like a $50 bankroll. I immediately had a HUGE upstreak (11 out of 12 cashes with a bunch of 1sts) and assumed I was best poker player alive. I basically did a TON of grinding of sngs from $5 up to about $50 before I switched over to limit. I would take ocassional stabs at 25 nl but didn't play very well and would usually blow money. I had been playing a LITTLE limit throughout this too. I must've grinded to about $8k or so. I started grinding full ring $1/2 then $2/4 yadayada, before I found what was the most fun: 6-max limit. I started $1/2 6max for not too long I hopped up to $5/10 and grinded a TON again. I eventually grinded up to about 25k. Then about 4-5 months ago I decided to try out NL cash. Since my roll was fairly big, I decided to just hop on 400 nl and I immediately did well. Once I learned that getting AK allin preflop wasn't the optimal strategy for 100 bb nl cash (like it was for sngs), I did even better. I jumped up to 1000 nl within two weeks. Since I started nl cash it's been nothing but domination climbing up the ranks to 50/100 nl.
