The 'And another 1000' part.

Notice I would never actually be a stickler for this normally, but it was clear from the way the question was asked it was gonna be some trick answer. I got 4100 immediately and thought that was easy, so I assumed the answer had to be 3100 (to be the trick part). I'm guessing this still may be the trick answer and the OP is trying to get as many people to think they have the right answer before he tells the real one, which is 3100.

I already read them all. I don't see what's not to understand. You've been looking way to far into it. 5000 is the expected wrong answer and 4100 is the real answer.
