Re: Most underrated college football conference.

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] What SEC teams do you think are underrated? [/ QUOTE ] The two that got screwed out of the last two national championships. [/ QUOTE ] Who would that be? There were three undefeated teams last year, and Auburn could only schedule UL-Monroe, UL-Lafayette, and the Citadel as their non-conference games. Sorry, but two D-1AA teams and a weak D-1A team doesn't cut it. It's tough to convince me of a conferences superiority when the top team doesn't play anyone except for inside the conference. So, someone had to get left out, they were the one who did, and they didn't exactly dominate VT while USC romped over OU, so they didn't get a split in the polls. The year before, there was once again 3 teams all with legitamite claims, and both USC and LSU looked good in their bowl games, so they each got one poll. Besides, all the talk about that game wasn't that LSU didn't belong, but that Oklahoma didn't after losing to Kansas State. So, I fail to see how the SEC team got robbed in either case. Hell, if Auburn got robbed, so did Utah. They didn't even get to play a good team, just Pitt. The fact of the matter is, until their is a playoff, the system blows, so whining about specific teams and conferences getting hosed by the BCS is just homerism. Complain about the system, not who gets screwed each time. [/ QUOTE ] The simple fact remains that the SEC is the hardest confrence to go undefeated in period. For example, Auburn over the past 3 years has played 46% of their games against top 25 ranked teams. The sec also has a confrence championship game which makes going undefeated in this confrence even harder. The SEC is simple too strong to have one team dominate the confrence year in year out like USC does. |

Auburn over the past 3 years has played 46% of their games against top 25 ranked teams. [/ QUOTE ] Maybe you should stick to that instead of playing an outside the top 25 GT team and letting us ruin your season. Twice. PS - good thing you guys dropped out of the game we were supposed to play last year at the GA Dome. Otherwise, you wouldn't have even had the chance to cry about being left out. |

Re: Most underrated college football conference.
The ACC has 7 teams in the top 25 this week. Not bad for a basketball conference.

Re: Most underrated college football conference.
you really can't fairly say that in light of the "basketball" = the past and 1/7th of the ranked teams joining the conference this year, 3/7ths in the past 2 years and FSU still not a part of the traditional basketball powerhouses. 4 of the teams aren't traditional basketball programs, and clemson and tech just beat highly regarded and formerly ranked teams to earn their current rankings. Miami, vt, and bc don't feel acc, and fsu still doesn't. ACC still feels duke, nc, wake, md, gt, state, clemson, virgina, but you're right, people haven't digested the new power.

Didn't they schedule someone real, who backed out to play Oklahoma?

Re: Most underrated college football conference.
USC doesn't dominate year in and year out. Just the last 2.5 years.(split in 2002) They were the doormat the year prior to Carroll coming on.
In the last 15 years, there's been 9 different champions. In the 90s, 90-99, SC only 'shared' it twice. Don't watch too much Pac 10 football do ya? b |
