Dear ted, I'd change my name. He might make fun of you less with a cool name like Hank, or Cristoph.

Cristoph is a cool name?

[/ QUOTE ]
christoph isn't even a name, it's like 3/4 of one. how can that be cool ?

[/ QUOTE ]
Have you ever met someone named Christoph who wasn't cool?

Dear Tron (Apologies to Bisonbison):

First, you do not have to consent. In this instance (no warrant), police need probable cause to search your car. At this point they don't have that, so another way to conduct a valid search is to obtain consent. Consent is exactly that - it's voluntary. You don't (and shouldn't in this circumstance) allow them to search your car.

Once you've refused I wouldn't be surprised if they do call the dogs. The police DO NOT need probable cause to call the dogs, and given that it seems you don't live in a major metropolitan area, the police can detain you for a reasonable period of time to bring in the dogs.

Now, as far as whether they can smell alcohol, (1) I would be surprised if they are trained to smell booze - it's legal for anyone over 21 to have alcohol in their trunks and (2) in this instance the alcohol is contained within an air-tight container, so I'm not even sure there would be a scent to begin with.

Of course, once the officer goes to the trouble of calling the dogs and then comes up empty, you can probably expect the most expensive ticket of your life. So it's really your call, but I'll take that ticket over an arrest any day.

Dear MrsNolanFan.

At the moment I'm not really interested, but I'll drop Scott a line if things change.

Dear Bison,

What is the maximum number of times you can call a girl to make plans without success? Assume that you actually get a real answer as to why the girl cannot hang out that night (such as "I can't, I'm working the late shift tonight, but I would like to hang out soon") and not a simple "I can't."

Thanks,
Fink

Dear Bison,

I'm currently a losing 0.5/1 LHE player at Party (4k hands -1.00BB/100) and just starting my online poker career. Should I buy a Dell 2001FP now while it is at a decent price or wait until I am officially a winning player?
