Re: Why dont black people play poker?
Now that everyone's head is covered in his own faecal matter, I'd like to go on record as saying that yes, it's true--if you play somewhere where there is a larger number of black people playing poker (like the Oaks, for instance), this post will seem to be based upon a faulty premise.
If you play in Finland, you might find it to be a worthwhile topic. But if you're ME, and you find yourself actually typing in a response to such a transparently pointless issue, you might ask yourself why you are wasting your valuable time, and |

Re: Why dont black people play poker?
There are plenty of black people who play poker in Atlantic City.
Agreed |

Puppetmaster,
Why do you care? I found this an unusual post. For the record in Atlantic City where I play, we have just as many "blacks" as "whites". |

Re: Why dont black people play poker?
In Spring, we black people prefer to be called Afro-American. Didn't you get the memo?
But seriously I'm going to weigh in from the other side of the question and in the affirmative. As an Afro-American poker player, I usually am the only one at a poker table behind 6 white men, 1 white woman, 2 assorted Asians, and 1 Latino. As we make up 12.9 percent of the population, it seems about representative. I would not note religious or cultural taboos towards gambling in our community, in fact we are more prone to gambling disposable (and non diposable) income and to problem gambling than the average American. The better question may be, why do so many asians find their way to casinos (And don't say they are all laundering drug money, that's only half of them ) This ends todays Ask a Black Man segment, Paul Mooney will return next week. |

Skalansky could you delete this thread?
What I don't understand is a spammer get's banned for informing people about deals he can give them for poker, that is bad........ Morons talk like Jimmy the Greek and the drunk moron at the end of the bar and this thread devolves into dumb ethnic jokes and stereotypes and this is good?

I just got home from the Borgata and....
The $60-$120 game had 6 players I would call "black".

Re: Why dont black people play poker?
Equality doesn't mean sameness. That's just a fact.
The NBA is more entertaining than the WNBA. Women's tennis tends to be more entertaining than men's (better rallies). AND North Miami PD drops requirement in bid to recruit blacks Jimmy the Greek got a bum rap. I found there to be a much greater % of black people in the cardrooms in LA (Louisiana) than in NV. |
