it's really the flop 3-bet/turn check combo that makes no sense to me. I agree that checking the turn makes me more inclined to call the river.

OK, let me start over. I don't agree with the flop 3-bet. I'm probably calling the the checkraise and re-evaluating on the turn. The way it was played, I think we simply shut up the villain on the flop, and we are behind. This is why I take the free card. I guess I was mixing a different line with how the flop was played.
