Surf, when you talk about a 50 BB shot at a higher limit, by that do you mean to take 50 BBs and either go broke or shoot up to the point where you have a permanent home at that new level?

OurHouse is going through a 500 BB downswing like it's a walk in the park. I lost 100 BBs in the last 10k hands and I'm crying about it.

I actually charted my last 20k hands. It was worse than i thought. Here are my individual downswings:

220, 103, 101, 110, 156, 199

I am currently down 4.5 BBs during that span.

I am not sure why you have to guess about anything (PT should tell you this yes?), but i agree with your other statements. I have been exactly a 1.8BB/100 winner over 110K hands at 5/10 mostly with some 10/20 6max and I am stuck in the midst of a 300BB downswing over 20K hands. I have had one 100BB session and one 160BB session. The 100BB session was with JustinA sitting next to me and instructed to shock me with 100 volts any time I was going to do anything stupid. To quote Justin, "jesus, man, don't you ever spike a pair".

Bottom line is this 300 number being rare is nonsense and in fact likely to happen to many winning players. The swings are just violent and we all have to just deal with that. I too am glad for a roll that dwarfs my losses but the emotional side of losing is still challenging to deal with even when the financial is not.
