The live final table they showed on FOX Sports a while ago was fantastic. We saw every hand played, and therefore the bigger hands were put more into context. So we know WHY someone re-raised all in with 93 against a particular player.

I thought I'd weigh-in here:

1. All programs on TV defined as "entertainment" stay on the air for the advertising revenue they bring in.
2. In poker, you will get bigger audiences, i.e. more revenue if you show more entertaining hands such as all-ins, bluffs, and hands which a player is agonizing about.
3. Casual fans don't even want to know how boring a poker tournament actually is.
4. Casual fans want to believer that the winner of a tournament is a great player, who never makes a mistake. Hence their badly played hands are never shown.

.....The main point of the OP is that this stuff is important, it is not. As evidenced by the decision to not provide this information.
