It hasn't rained here in 4 months. It is supposed to start Saturday, when I'm moving

just take a stand man.

Hopefully you're on the inside, in which case the clear answer is to throw a shoulder into him forcing him into the street.

When two people are walking towards each other with umbrellas drawn up, what is the proper protocol when the sidewalk is not wide enough to allow both to pass? Which person raises the umbrella higher?

[/ QUOTE ]

Taller person. Or if its a man and woman, the guy.

What if one has one of those little micro-umbrellas, which are great for fitting in shoulder bags and briefcases and the like when travelling to/from work, but do not stand up to the likes of the intimidating oversized golf umbrella? Surely this is a no-win situation?

I believe jake has hit the right answer. The person closest to the street should be the one to yield. Thanks to all.

This is why I will not endorse the umbrella and suggest that the masses invest in hoods and hats.

I 100% agree with this. I HATE umbrellas. The worst is when you take one inside a restaurant or store and you have to be careful with it cause buckets of water are poruing off it onto everything around you. Id rather be wet than carry a goddamn umbrella.

While Im ranting, let me also say that I cant stand it when people with those huge [censored] golf umbrellas open them up in tight spaces like subway exits.
