Re: A3s 300/600 sorta weird line
Mike, actually I *DO* think it holds some importance that the limits are given correctly here. There are $300/600 games spread elsewhere online (don't know about the action though), and the £150/300 is a slightly lower game. Much like $15/30 with $10/15 is a slightly lower game than $20/40.

Re: A3s 300/600 sorta weird line
bk I'm really wondering what your plans on the turn is with this play.
are you planning to raise the turn if he bets into you or just calling? your either going to be drawing to 3 outs or way ahead to a pocket pair ranging anywhere from 66-KK. wouldn't you want to know on the flop with this kind of hand where you stand in the hand with him? what turn cards are you raising and what turn cards are you calling? |

Coolade is a World Series of Poker bracelet holder and a CardPlayer columnist [/ QUOTE ] Is this supposed to give some idea of how well he plays. Robert Varkoni (sp?) meets this description, and I can't say i've ever been terribly impressed by his play...even though he's done something i'll probably never do. lf |

Re: A3s 300/600 sorta weird line
I'm sure BK will answer for himself, but if I were in his spot there aren't any turn cards I would be raising and I'd be calling all of them.
Checking the flop committs BK to a showdown here 100% of the time, I would think, and the best way to get the most out of hands you beat is to call the turn. I'd also only call any river, unless I spiked 2 pair in there somewhere. lf |

Surprised there's that much controversy about such a standard play for this situation. Anyone who doesn't understand why he checked the flop (and the advantages of doing so) should take two steps backwards.

[/ QUOTE ] I think everybody understands his thought process behind checking this flop and there are advantages. There are also advantages to betting this flop and there in lies the controversy. I personally bet this flop 100% of the time and check behind on the turn if called sometimes. Lots of guys at my limits (me included) will checkraise an Ace high flop with something like 77 or maybe worse in blind battles. So the question is, will the potential bluff checkraises on the flop make you more or less than the bets you save when your behind or the extra bets you gain when your opponent catches up? |
