kind of related, but joe morgan actually said this:

(chone figgins is coming to bat. he is 0-8 despite some line drives right at fielders and nice plays by arod/cano)

joe morgan: "here's chone figgins. hes been hitting the ball well this series, but so far he's gotten unlucky. his 2-3 last at bats have resulted in well hit outs, so if he hits the ball well this time up hes more likely to get a hit"

now i know this is a gambling forum and whatnot, but that is ridiculous.

uh...carpenter is still 4-0 against houston beating clemens twice, oswalt, and pettitte, iirc

not only that, the astros are going to have to score more than 0 runs for clemens to win some games.

Yeah, well too bad Carpenter can't pitch every game. And he may be 4-0, but we beat him up pretty good (By his standards) in the last week of the season.

Plus we have a hall-of-famer coming off the bench, available for late-inning game-changing situations. You guys have a guy named "So".

That's funny, I could swear that last year we managed to win 4 playoff games against Houston without him pitching in any of them.

just to be clear, i'm not a cardinals fan

don't the cardinals have izzy? and what difference does it make if he's a hall of famer or not? this man almost lost game 7 in the 2003 ALCS. and i don't think he's going to be coming off the bench too often...though he has good stats, he's not really a workhorse anymore.

carpenter's pitched pretty well in the ALDS...i think he's fine right now. and yea, the cardinals didn't even have that solid of a staff last year and still won...

You've got Grudzielanek at 2nd and Eckstein in lieu of Renteria (another downgrade).

[/ QUOTE ]

2005 stats
Eckstein: .294 avg, 8hr, 62rbi, .758 OPS
Renteria: .276 avg, 8hr, 70rbi, .721 OPS

Big downgrade there.

All of your 'expert' analysis seems to be that STL doesn't have Rolen anymore, and Houston doesn't have 'some guy named PETE MUNRO'. Sure, you are an Astros fan (or a member of the team, based on the wording of your posts), we get it, but your arguments are ridiculous.

You have to give credit where credit is due. The Cards have been the best team in baseball in 2005. Thats why they won 11 more games than the Astros. Thats why they are favorites to win the NLCS.

Yeah, you guys beat a guy named PETER MUNRO twice. Good job. And a guy named Rolen helped you do it.

You are comparing the regular season to the playoffs. Don't do that.

That's like comparing a cash game to a tourney. You guys DO have the better team. Who cares? This is a 7-game TOURNAMENT.

We have the advantage in this TOURNAMENT. Get over it. Using your argument...how do you explain the Braves (the best team over the last 14 years) only winning 1 WS??

Playoffs are a different animal than regular season.

Who's team is better? Cardinals, hands down. Who will win this series? Astros, hands down.
