The Foxwoods 1/2NL game is very beatable even with the $5/.5 hour rake.

I have a small bankroll and I wouldn't consider myself an amazing player, just above average, yet I KILL this game. Up around $2200 the last 10 times I've gone, including only 2 losing sessions. And these aren't marathon sessions, they have been split between about 3-4 hour and 7-8 hour sessions either after work or on the weekends.

The biggest complaint I have about the time charge is that they charge you $5 before you even play a hand if the light is on and they haven't dropped the chips yet when you sit down.

The whole basis of this post is incorrect.. Borgata charges time per half hour just like everyplace else, so you are really comparing $10/hr to $12/hr not $5/hr to $12/hr.

Thank you. OP, if you are very good compared to your 2/5 NL opponents, you will make about $40 or $50 an hour against them, after factoring in the time charge. Work on becoming this good, rather than worrying about the time charge.

Also, the PT numbers are not too relevant here, since you have much better info and tools available to you in a live game, and since the players are much worse in general in live low-stakes NL games than in their online counterparts.

And finally, talk the table into playing time pots, and then play very tightly until time is paid, if you're worried about it.

granted, i believe that the competition is much worse live at this level (particularly at foxwoods), but alas, you also play 20 hands per hour instead of 60...

you say 50/hr when the accepted EV at 2-5 online would be at most about 50/hr (8ptbb/100 = 80/100 = 48/hr if 60 hands per hour). so... you think that you can make THREE TIMES AS MUCH MONEY PER HAND live as you can online? hard to believe...

since i assume you are indeed making the $150,000/year tax free playing a standard 40hour workweek that you claim is attainable, i congratulate you on your success.

You vastly underestimate how bad people are in these games.

I don't think I understand your post at all.

The last time I was at Foxwoods the game was a 5-5 NL with an unlimited buy in and the charge was $6 a half hour.

Is that what you are saying?

ok... i can accept that to be true - the 4-5 times ive played at foxwoods they have, indeed, been terrible (the time im referring to on monday someone in the BB pooshed his whole 300 stack pre-flop over one raiser to steal 18 dollars, and got called with QQ... pusher had A5s).

but, are they really that much worse than comparable players online, where the rake is so much lower? really bad enough to make up for 12 bucks per hour to play just 20 hands? id actually like to discuss this a bit, if you have some insight into it, as i much prefer live play to online - but play online much more because it simply seems prudent. why would you argue that terrible players converge to live play, when logically you would think that terrible players would play online where its so easy (and anonymous) to grab a chair? but mostly, how can you argue that they can be SO MUCH WORSE than their online counterparts (who at 2-4 blinds arent exactly chip reese, either) to counteract the effects of 12 bucks an hour over only approximately TWENTY HANDS per hour?

logically, i can't see how it could be, but im getting the idea that everyone is telling me im wrong, and im more than willing to accept the 'reads' of experienced players over my logic... could you (or someone else) please lead me in the right direction?

hi. theyre keeping the 5/5, but beginning on the 25th theyre changing the 2/4 300 buyin into a 2/5 300-500 buyin, apparently due to player feedback.

I have no sympathy for you

The last time I played at my local casino, the rake was $1.5 PER HAND at 5/10 PL

edit: Let me be clear here, every player pays $1.5 each per hand, even if you fold preflop or whatever
