Re: The Presidents Vacation Time
FEMA does prepare for such things, but there isn't much action they can take until the state of emergency is declared.

Re: The Presidents Vacation Time
No the main problem is that every time there is a major problem, this pResident seems to hiding somewhere (My Pet Goat).
FEMA, the National Guard and all of the other government agencies have heads that are responsible for them, and report to the Cabinet. But where was the Boss to apply the pressure? Why were the Naval ships, which are only now on their way and not due to arrive for four more days, not pre positioned after it became apparent on FRIDAY that this had the potential to be a problem, or on Sunday, when everyone and their mother with cable television KNEW it was going to be a problem? Those ships could have left the harbors over the weekend, or at latest on Monday and been arriving today. The National Guard units from TX, OK, LA, MS, and AL could have been standing by on the borders, ready to move in, but they are only getting there today, if at all. Don't bother having Ms. Rice come back from HER vacation to coordinate the relief being offered by Canada, and potentially Mexico. Is any of this PERSONALLY Bush's fault?? Maybe not, but as he positioned himself during his first campaign, the CEO president, the RESPONSIBILITY starts at the top. But that's a word that this pResident is wholly unfamiliar with. |

[/ QUOTE ] I agree with all of this. Completely. It's a failure of government to live up to their empty promise of protection. The answer is not to vote Bush out and install an equally incompetent loser from the other party, though. The answer is to stop depending on a wasteful, bloated government. |
