I stayed there one night a couple years ago. It's pretty blah, but the location isn't bad.

Near the MGM Grand, which has a shiny new cardroom.

Of course, if you want to be a baller, you should just stay at MGM. Or Mandalay Bay. Or the Bellagio. Or the Mirage. etc, etc...

I did not book the trip. I just heard I can go to vegas with friends for 3 days for $210 and plunked down the cash.

I stayed at the Tropicana a couple of months ago. It was around $50 a nite. OK place to sleep. OK p*k*r room. Right across the street from MGM. $15 cab ride to Wynn.

The Excalibur sucks relative to the rest of Vegas, but you did not make a mistake here. You'll figure out that there are better places to stay next time, but this is far from the worst thing in the world for $210.

Well, the price is definitely right. I'd "stay there" if it was that cheap, and just play poker and drink all night elsewhere.

Last time I went (with Joel), we overpaid to stay at the Tropicana because my gay homosexual friends were too prude about sharing beds in a nicer place.

Well, it sounds sucky, but the trip is already booked. Is there anything good about it?

Might try the $100 bill trick when checking in.

I stayed at Paris a couple years ago compliments of an online gaming site. Nice place, across the street from Bellagio and my rooms were free. NOT good enough fo ra high roller like myself. Upon checkin I flashed a Franklin and asked if there were any "free" upgrades available. After checking with the manager and I'm sure negotiating the split I was given a very nice suite.

So I went from a $125/night room to a $350/night suite for $100 and this was a 3 night stay. Suite was probably 900 sq ft or so. Wet bar, jacuzzi, sitting room, 2 baths, 2x daily maid service which included fresh flowers, turn down service and access to the concierge suite where sandwiches, breakfast items and drinks were available 24/7.

Give it a try. Suites at the Excalibur can't be all that bad.

You'll think it's pretty funny the first time you walk around.
