Interesting that you like the big Romantics as well. I find Mahler and Verdi just a little to demanding for sustained play. Too much competition for my attention, and too much variation. I'll try it though, as it may affect my style. I've never thought of using music to encourage an aggressive or patient style, I use it to reach my optimal game, whatever that may be.

Just remember, I'm a classical (And Jazz, R&B ect.) musician so these guys are old friends. Tchaikovsky and Mahler in particular have enormous swings in volume and I keep it from going ear splitting but my memory fills the gaps for some of the quietest stuff.

The last movement of Tchaikovsky 6 and some of the more heart wretching Verdi might induce heavy drinking or other mind altering behavior after a bad beat/bad run. ;~)

I always play Metal music during tournaments to stay aggressive.

I listen to a wide variety of music at least 8-10 hours a day, and sure sometimes it affects my mood. Since your mood can affect your play, i woulld say it's a pretty safe bet that music, like just about anything else, can affect your play.

I think that really chill music without words is EV+. For me jazz and lounge music help a lot when I'm on tilt after loosing a big hand. If I'm listening to good jazz I rarely get mad after being sucked out on by some dumbess 60/2/.2 fish. I'm sure I have ADHD so chill music helps to keep my mind on the tables and forums. However, lyrics could be distracting.
