This thread is important, and these issues need to be discussed! Trying to shut this thread down is stifling free speech and violates the 2nd Amendment rights of the OP.

[/ QUOTE ]

I love the way this thread turned into a complete hijack, not giving the OP any satisfaction for his obvious flame bait.Good job guys!

You need to learn your laws.

[/ QUOTE ]

The Constitution is the "Supreme law of the land," as it says in Article VI. This trumps 2+2. Also since 2+2 is a public board it has to abide by the Constitution. This is a fact. Therefore my 2nd amendment rights to discuss tipping, why being a dealer is degrading and loathsome, or any topic related to poker, are unalienable.

Shutting down this thread violates my rights. Hitler took away the 2nd amendment rights of the Jews during the war. This is a slippery slope.

way to hijack this thread idiots

who cares about amendments, free speech, etc. - just answer the OP

if you don't want to you don't have to

the OP sounded to me to be slightly sarcastic in tone

#1 reason to not deal - you have to take care of nits like these

Shutting down this thread would limit your ability to display your ignorance here. You still have the right to do so elsewhere.

The 2nd Amendment says:

[ QUOTE ]
A well regulated militia, being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms, shall not be infringed.

[/ QUOTE ]

The 1st Amendment says:

[ QUOTE ]
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

[/ QUOTE ]

That does not say that anyone other than the government has any obligations regarding your freedom of speech. It only says that the government cannot abridge it. By posting here you give implied consent to the 2+2 Terms and Conditions, and they have the right to do anything they want to here.

If you want to stand on my lawn and make a speech, I can have you removed for trespassing. That does not violate your rights to free speech. You have no rights to speak on my lawn or on this forum. You may only do so with permission.

Actually, if you come speak on my lawn, I will just turn on the sprinklers, which will turn the lawn into a slippery slope.

This is the greatest post in the history of 2+2.

Wrong!! I'm a moderator on several messageboards. Messageboards are privately owned entities that the owners allow the public to come on. The moderators can kick anybody they want off for no reason at all and that person has no legal recourse. It's like inviting people over to your house and then kicking one of them out because they are making an ass out of themselves and disturbing the other guests. A lot of messageboard posters don't understand this.

There is no right of freedom of speech on internet messageboards. But you can always have the freedom of speech by purchasing and setting up your own messageboard.

#2 You're as good as you're ever going to be after six months

#3 Minimal benefits

#4 Most pros and casino management look down on dealers

#5 You are surrounded by depressed, addicted, mean, and lonely soles - It only takes one loser/[censored] to ruin a table...not the healthiest of environments.

#6 Hard to convince yourself you are doing something meaningful/worthwhile with your life.

#7 It gets tiring continually making sure players play in turn, act in a timely manner, don't take shots, etc.

[/ QUOTE ]

that was one good post.. 6 solid reasons.. other than that, all theses responses are pretty damn unclear.. what's up with you people? it's like your all republicans or something

Some interesting points here... any actual dealers to verify this I don't see any positive points made at all toward this career choice... on the 'it isn't meaningful work' note, neither is being a pro poker player really but I don't think any of us really cares about that so what's the difference?

Positive Points

You get paid everyday
You can get a tax break if you choose
Easy to get time off
Can work part time
Can work odd hours
Can be fun if you enjoy the atmosphere
No work to take home with you
If you are a player, gives you something to fall back on

The point on making a difference/meaningful work is if you don't care about such things, then no problem. If you do care, then you may have a problem over time.

I'm curious what's that about tax breaks? What kind of tax break can you get? and yeah i'm mostly looking for a fallback myself as a player and it seems logical enough.. I can't see how it could possibly be worse than waiting tables at least you are sitting down and I assume the pay is similar.
