Re: 75-150 Taj Hand
i think its pretty clear that youve played it correctly up until the river, which is the only debateable street. checkraising the flop and folding to a 3bet is par to bending over.
i think the river decision comes down to a few things: 1 do you think he will valuebet JJ-KK(JQ?)? 2 do you think he will fold JJ-KK(JQ?) to a river lead? 3 is it likely that he will make this play with 66 and if so, will he fire once more on the river? 4 will he bluffraise the river often enough to make calling his raise correct? 5 will he raise the river with AJ? against a pro at these limits my guesses would be: 1 sometimes 2 not likely 3 definitely 4 often 5 50/50 based on this, i think that leading becomes the correct play. feel free to correct me if you think any of my assessments of his character are incorrect. more importantly, the decision is so close that i think checkcalling/betting 50% of the time is really the correct line. |

Re: 75-150 Taj Hand
The default line with weak ace might be known and see a river raise regardless. Decided a while ago that in addition to always raising river with the ace, pump the river up once always when see that line and suspect a fold to the raise (especially when my image is tight, not too tricky)).
Also maybe throw a curve with the "default" line and check-raise the flop with top pair ace/king v three-better since never do this! And when show the ace...bluff at it in future. Nice theory anyways, probably only works in short handed or vs. everyday competition. This is the best line for draw free boards IMO since by calling his flop bet, he knows you have it and will check the turn. So your board AJX you will see that turn bet by him with i.e. KK or KJ since you could have KQ or QJ. But not AXX. |

Re: 75-150 Taj Hand
These are all pretty basic concepts. Im sure there is a faq out there somewhere. (here is an article about this situation cardplayer)
Also, Pahluka, just curious, what kind of situations would u not want to open raise ATo? |

5 will he raise the river with AJ? [/ QUOTE ] This would give him top two. Wouldn't he raise this and AK, AQ quite often? I am guessing you didn't see this and are wondering how low of a kicker he would need that still beats AT...but yeah, he is raising AJ! |

Re: 75-150 Taj Hand
Looks fine to me, Jeff. Besides the "solid pro" on the button, what did the rest of the table look like?

Re: 75-150 Taj Hand
Lineup: Me, Jailhouse, Solid pro, rich guy(s), kid with a gambling problem, loose calling station and other people who were in and out (and usually terrible). The game started 3 handed and eventually filled (with a list).
