Re: 50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
translate the question into what would you do against an icebreaker type with 5/10 blinds and an $1,800 stack.
i'm with Diablo on 3500 given a low bluff assumption and a loose caller, prefer a pot bet with a tighter caller, and prefer a lower bet given a high bluff assumption. entice him in if he's hyperaggressive on the _river_ as many of the nosebleed stakes guys are. bet $1,500 or similarly weak. he may call you with top pair or come over the top with a busted flush draw. if his bluff frequency is high your enticer bet makes your call of a check-raise definitely correct if occasionally nutcrunching. i'm not checking that river unless it was live and he looked like the nine made his year. matt |

I think there's only one question you need to ask yourself: how likely is he to bluff-raise me in this spot? (based on all factors)..... if the answer to that question is on the low side, your line becomes crystal clear: you value bet a good amount that doesn't tie you to the pot if he check-raises you..... [/ QUOTE ] So if he check raises you he only has the nuts or a massive bluff, and not any other hand? |

I don't get it? What beats hero besides an unlikely straight?! (just asking here, because I'd like to hear your thought process) [/ QUOTE ] Is that a rhetorical question? Nothing beats him except a straight. Yes, a straight is what I would put him on if he checkraised allin here. I don't understand why you think it is so unlikely. |

Re: 50/100 Deep Stack Weird River
CWL again i agree with you, 1200 feels more right to me than 800. the thing is though even if i act lag in someways, raising preflop then potting it twice is strength from me, he isn't the sort to get rattled and start giving loose aciton with a bad hand. also, if he does c/r me on the river it's hard to see him bluffing there just cause of the way he plays, but i have top set...
"his hand just doesnt make a lot of sense to me so im not all that sure what i would do." me either. only thing i could put him on was QTc or a hand that cannot call a bet. i checked behind on the river he had AQc |

Ml4l i don't think it's a meta game problem with how i play. it's just this players style. what hand can you put him on that calls me?

what hand can you put him on that calls me? [/ QUOTE ] the way this guy sounds it doesn't seem like there are any hands. given this opponent and the way the hand played out, i don't think checking behind here is bad at all. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well, the problem might not be with you, which is what I was trying to get at... If you insist that he could not possibly have a hand that calls a value-bet, I believe you; I just think that it's a little weird that a 50/100 regular can be that damn predictable... I agree that his hand range is probably draw-heavy, but I would think at least some percentage of the time, he would have some sort of hand capable of calling a river bet. Oh well... Mike |

'he would have some sort of hand capable of calling a river bet. ' on this particular board, what could he have? |
