Why did you chose a username of a NL movie character?

Could you imagine "Rounders" to be as exciting if it was a Limit movie?

[/ QUOTE ]

Damon was playing limit against Johnny Chan.

They also forced chan to make an impossibly dumb move to heighten the drama. there's no such thing as a truly exciting limit hand because the universal drama destroying calldown is always there. there is no such net in NL, hence it makes for good TV.

bottom line, limit is like being an accountant, NL is like being a cop.

I think you hit the mark with this one. The fact that there is no definitive book on the game is a tribute to its complexity.

I can't tell if you're uninformed or being sarcastic. Mr. Sklansky's book is titled "Hold "em Poker for Advanced Players" and is for Limit Only. I don't believe you'll find a good book NLHE ring games, or specifically on-line NLHE with a fixed buy-in. There is a reason for this.

I think if you came and played some NL in LA you might reconsider your position. Bigger NL games in Vegas are generally pretty lame.

Out of curiosity:

Could I nut peddle 12 tables of 200NL and make money? That is, have a low vpip, only playing pocket pairs essentially? Or is this not profitable?

Apparently it was quite profitable for Kristelita/AliKings up to and including NL1K. Apparently it is not working as well at NL2K. I'm sure that you could do it at NL200 quite easily.

personally, i find live limit much more fun than NL.

its more relaxing, and you can fire more bets with out that really sick feeling you sometimes get in NL.

[/ QUOTE ]

That sick feeling that you're referring to is what i love about NL....To me, LHE is boring

Couldn't agree more with you Aggie.

And to the OP - there are NL games out there that I sit in where, if I could apply Pokertracker to real life, I would have a VPIP somewhere in the range of 60-80%, depending on the night. Generally, these are the games I absolutely kill. I could never sit around and watch as other players who could, at best, be described as non-retarded, cut up the true fish.

I believe that in the better games, at least half, and probably more, of the players are both clueless and playing merely to have a good time. In low-level games like this, it almost doesn't matter how loose you play preflop - your implied odds are almost infinite.

I think you can make more money in limit at middle limts online but it's a chase festival. I prefer NL because I feel I have more control over the game and because I'm forced to focus more intensely because I don't want to make a mistakes that costs me my bet. Even so, I love limit. In fact, I love poker!
