So at least in your scenerio, the guy had a real hand,

a real hand? When my guy went all in the board was K555, he had A2!!! how is that a real hand? Your guy is the one with an actual hand, he's at least got one pair. plus he had more outs, if he assumed you only had top pair and not trips, he's got two out for the set of 4's, and a very small chance at the back door straight. My guy had one out, one card left in the deck and was a dog to your stinking guy with a pair of 4's, he was a dog to a pair of two's.

why would i want to bet more??? If by some miracle he has the last K then i want him to think it'll just be a split pot so that on the river he'll have enough invested to call my all in, i never considered the possiblity of another five hitting, and i never intend to take that as a possiblility.

999 times out of 1000 i've got this hand won, the last thing i want this guy to do is fold by being too aggressive.

How about flopping a medium flush, then another flush card on the turn.
He checks, I check.

River completes my str-flush.
All-ins.

He shows a lower str-flush.
He hit on the turn.

NEVER slow play!!!

That's no worse than the beating your mom took when she forgot my pack of Luckies.

That's bad. Here's one I took last week, which in my opinion (but maybe only because it happened to me) is worse.

This was in a $100 NL game with 9 players.

Villain limps UTG with K [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] J [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

UTG+1 folds

Two players in MP limp (one of them had already limped with KK and AK in the last couple hours); one folds.

Hero with A[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] in CO raises 6XBB.

Button folds, blinds fold, villain calls, one player in MP calls.

Flop comes A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] A[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] Q[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]

Villain checks, MP makes a mini-raise, Hero makes a pot sized reraise (concerned that MP is holding AK).

Villain calls, MP folds.

Turn is a blank and villain checks. Hero makes another pot sized raise and villain calls again.

River is 10[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].

Villain moves all-in. Hoping that villain was drawing to the flush or had A-10 and was drawing to a full house and just hit, and I guess just not willing to believe that he hit a royal flush on the river, hero calls.

Oh well. Easy come, easy go.
